
About Kapwa:
Kapwa Chicago Showcase Vol. 1 is an event curated by Cali Castillo - a Filipinx creative, manager, and music industry professional - and Jaeya Bayani - a Filipinx singer-songwriter, dancer, rapper, and music industry professional. The event aims to celebrate the richness and diversity of the Filipinx-Filipino American community through a fusion of music, dance, and visual arts as well as being a space for networking with the different generations of our community to empower the creators of our future. Scheduled to take place on April 27th, 2024 at 12-5 pm at the Jose Rizal Center (1332 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60613).
About the Jose Rizal Center:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Co-conceptualized, -directed, and -produced a multi-format event with Cali Castillo that included a showcase, panel, fundraiser, and vendor activations
Researched the history of the Rizal Center and met with the Board of Directors to inform Kapwa’s goal of how to give back to our communities
Scouted, contacted, and secured Filipinx-American 6 vendors, 7 artists, 6 panelists, and 4 sponsors spanning multiple generations and creative industries
Setup + break down for an event with a 100+ attendee turnout of Fil-Ams and non-Fil-Ams interested in learning more about Filipinx culture
Co-managed logistics to secure event venue (Rizal Center, Chicago, IL) and event insurance
Multi-week street team flier + handbill marketing campaigns across all Columbia College Chicago campus buildings, dorms, and the Greater Chicago Area
Bio and media management for social media marketing and setlist organization
Coordinated Run of Show, Input Lists, and sound equipment with DJs and sound engineer for day of show
Raised a total of more than $500+ for the Rizal Center in both ticket sales and vendor sales
Co-emceed with Cali Castillo and performed as a featured artist
